These machines can suck in polluted air and remove the CO2 molecules directly from it like a planetary air purifier. What’s great about this approach is that like we talked about earlier, carbon emissions will be around for the foreseeable future. Ocean De-acidification

Our oceans were one of the first ecosystems to feel the effects of climate change. One 40-foot shipping container can pull out 1,000 tonnes of CO2 annually, and they all run on renewable energy or excessive power from existing plants.

AI is everywhere these days, so why not in carbon offset technology? Using AI models, organizations can better track their energy usage and automatically implement suggestions for how they can use less.

A great example is Quilt, a startup creating a more eco-friendly way to heat and cool our homes. The systems they use operate on clean energy and are built with efficiencies that older HVAC systems lack. But what really makes them stand out is their AI tech that knows when to shut down and turn on based on your habits. This leads to less usage, less energy, and a better situation for the environment.


In the oil and gas sector, the practice of flaring is a common way to dispose of waste gas generated during operational processes. You’ve probably seen photos of the massive torches of fire shooting up in the sky — these flames account for 2% of global emissions, with a staggering 145 billion cubic meters of gas flared annually worldwide.

Another partner of Karbon-X Plexus has thought of a better way to deal with this problem. Their process redirects natural gas that would typically be flared during conventional oil and gas operations and repurposes it to generate electricity. While this project doesn’t eliminate CO2 from the atmosphere entirely, it significantly curtails the volume being emitted and makes a meaningful contribution to lowering all emissions.

Carbon Farming

Carbon farming involves using eco-friendly agricultural techniques aimed at extracting carbon from the atmosphere and storing it within soils and plant materials. This happens in many different ways such as using soil amendments like compost or biochar, adopting conservation tillage, integrating agroforestry, utilizing whole orchard recycling, and cultivating cover crops that optimize the presence of living roots, among others.

The process of bolstering soil organic matter in both croplands and rangelands serves as a means to sequester carbon within the soil, alleviating some of the effects of climate change while also making for healthier soil.
