For instance, methane (CH4) is approximately 25 times more potent than CO2, while nitrous oxide (N2O) is about 298 times more effective at trapping heat in the atmosphere. These differences highlight the complexity of climate science and underscore the necessity of a standardized measurement system.

These gases are converted into CO2e to reflect their relative impact on global warming.
